Excel project

Regional Sales Dashboard

A raw sales export, from row one to a working dashboard: pivot it, chart it, then flag the region that needs attention.

Projects are multi-step builds, not single exercises: each one chains several real skills together on one dataset, the way an actual workbook gets built, not graded one isolated formula at a time. Steps unlock in order, so finishing one is what opens the next.

What this project covers

Step 1 of 5: Summarize sales by region and quarter

This export has one row per region per quarter. There are no totals anywhere. Build a pivot table that breaks total sales down by region and quarter, in one grid.

Step 2 of 5: Chart total sales by region

Now turn that same data into a picture: chart total sales by region so the regions can be compared at a glance, quarter differences aside.

Step 3 of 5: Flag the region that needs attention

Each region's total sales (the same totals from the last two steps) are laid out here. Highlight whichever region fell short of the $250 target.

Step 4 of 5: Filter the export down to this week's review

Leadership only wants to review Q2 this week. Q1 is already closed out. Filter the raw export down to Q2 rows only.

Step 5 of 5: Format the summary for leadership

One last touch before this goes in front of leadership: bold the header row on the summary table and give it a blue fill, the way a finished dashboard looks.

The dataset, the exact approach, and the answer for each step are part of the unlocked project itself, not shown here.
